Get Maximum Exposure Using Traffic Exchange Sites

One of the simplest and sometimes entertaining ways to gain maximum traffic to your band web site or MySpace page is by registering with traffic exchange sites. This is definitely the easiest way for even the laziest creative marketers to get potential fans to visit your site.

If you’ve got a mom’s basement dwelling, unemployed, band member who does nothing but surf the web all day until it’s time to jam, (and let’s face it, we all know a few of those) well this is a great way to put that to use for you!

A Traffic Exchange or Hit Exchange is a foolproof way to get people to visit your site. Basically you receive exposure for your own web site by viewing the sites of other bands or businesses registered with your site exchange. For each page you visit (for a few as 20 seconds) another member will be required to view your page. It’s hit for hit!
These programs provide you with a very powerful and cost effective (FREE) way of:

- Putting your music, merchandise and tour schedule in front of a very diverse audience
- Seeing what other artists are promoting
- Getting an idea of how your competition is targeting their promotional campaigns
- Branding your name, gather connections, network with fellow artists, and yes, even make CD, Merch and ticket sales!

How Can This GUARANTEE INCREASED TRAFFIC TO YOUR SITE?

Traffic Exchanges are member based, so you must open an account (most are FREE) and register your URL with each exchange you intend to use. This is a simple task that can be completed in just a couple of minutes, and for FREE exchanges it costs nothing to join.

Traffic Exchanges operate on a credit system. Members earn credits by participating in a variety of ways, and then "spend" these credits on website visitors to their own pages, banner ad impressions, text links, and in some cases, even email advert's.

By maintaining active memberships in a few good exchanges, you can generate a tremendous flow of traffic for any web site you wish to promote. When used properly, these resources are an outstanding way to promote your band, music, merchandise, events, and recordings by simply clicking a button and surfing other websites.

There are Manual Traffic Exchanges and Auto Surf Traffic Exchanges:

Manual - These exchanges are THE BEST ONES! I always use manual traffic exchanges because you must actually click on each site and then to the next after 20 seconds or so. Not only does this give you insight into what others are doing, namely your competition, but it also means that you have to see the page to click on it. In conclusion, every 20 seconds you spend on someone else’s page is 20 seconds that someone else is required to spend on YOUR WEB SITE!

*If you have an auto player on your web site (pretty standard, don’t ya’ think?) that’s a minimum of 20 seconds someone is listening to YOUR MUSIC. They may stick around for longer than 20 seconds, or better yet hit up a show or buy your CD!

AutoSurf - I stay away from these sites all together. While it is a simpler task to just sign in and walk away, this also works against you as members can just switch on and leave it auto scrolling from site to site. No one need actually see your page at all.

*However, this is a pretty decent tool for those who have Adsense integrated in their site. The pay per click benefitapplies and money can be generated effortlessly, but there is a lacking in the promotional result. I recommend manual exchanges for Maximum promo results and auto surf exchanges for those with a concentration on Adsense.
